Watch for water accumulation

Replace old drain hoses from washing machines, inspect supply lines for leaks, and always periodically inspect your water heater for leaks or rust, which can indicate an impending problem. An annual inspection can save a lot of headaches down the road if a small, imperceptible problem becomes an issue that results in flooding and water damage.
